Maple Custard

 

1/4 cup pure maple syrup, plus more for serving
5 large egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup milk

1. whisk together maple syrup, egg yolks, and vanilla

2. in a saucepan, heat cream and milk until just beginning to bubble

3. pour the milk mixture very slowly, and whisking constantly, over the maple syrup mix 

4. divide into 4 ramekins, and place in a baking dish. Fill dish with hot water, covering 3/4 of the sides of the ramekins 

5. bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes

6. chill in refrigerator. Drizzle with maple syrup to serve
