Rice Pilaf

 

2 tablespoons butter
3 ounces (85g) orzo pasta
1 cup (200g) long grain white rice
1 1/2 cup (360ml) chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon dry thyme
1-2 teaspoons onion powder
1-2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons salt 
1-2 teaspoons turmeric
1 tablespoon dry parsley 

1. mix all dry ingredients and set aside

2. melt butter in a saucepan or dutch oven, then add orzo pasta. Cook stirring

Note You can use fresh vegetables & herbs instead of the dry ingredients

Optional
broccoli florets
carrot sticks
chicken breast, cubed

1. stir fry carrot and broccoli in olive oil before adding to the rice

2. cook chicken pieces in a saucepan. Season well with salt & pepper

3. mix all into the rice pilaf
